Brake and Gear Adjustment Workshop!

On Saturday, October 1st, join Bici Digna at the CARECEN Day Labor center for a mobile bicycle workshop that will show you how to adjust your brakes and gears!  You know, for maximum bike-awesomeness.

Every first Saturday of the month, Bici Dignarios hit up the day labor center near Wilshire and  Union for a free mobile bicycle workshop.  Bring your bike, your ganas, and your good vibes.  Bici Digna will be doing minor bicycle repairs for free, and for this upcoming workshop, we’ll also be showing you how to adjust your brakes and gears so you can do that on your own!  Isn’t that cool?

So join us, Saturday, October 1st from 8am to 12pm. 1600 Shatto St, LA CA 90017.

This workshop is made possible by a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services through the Los Angeles County Department of Health.

Bike Repair Workshop at the Hippie Kitchen

This Saturday, join Bici Dignarios as they do some minor bicycle repairs at the Los Angeles Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen – AKA The Hippie Kitchen!  If you’ve been meaning to get that weird sound your rim makes checked out, well here’s your chance.

If your bike doesn’t need any repairs, well come on down anyway and help out.  We’re always looking for some good volunteers.

Saturday, September 17 from 8am-12pm, 821 East 6th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90021-1015.  Call Leo at (323) 384-0027 for more info for this mobile workshop.

See you there!

Some post-summer updates!

Bici Digna has been busy!  Too busy to post good updates on this blog, but let’s try to remedy that today.

Bici Dignarios just wrapped up their stint at Lafayette Park, where they were hosting mobile workshops every Thursday from 7-9pm  in conjunction with the Summer Night Lights program, a gang reduction and prevention program that kept parks open until midnight during the summer.  Last Thursday, September 3rd, was the last Thursday of the program.  Bici Dignarios raffled off two bicycles to some happy park-goers, fixed up some bikes, and even changed the trucks and wheels on a skateboard.

A special thanks to all those who showed up to help and support Bici Digna during these workshops.  It’s always nice when you all come hang out with us!

More than two months ago (yikes, really  been lagging it on the blog updates), Bici Digna and Córazon del Pueblo had their first Solidarity Ride!

We rode from Hollenbeck Park in Boyle Heights to MacArthur Park, chilled out for a bit and got to know each other, then headed back to Hollenbeck for some yummy yummy food and some quality time with the Eastside Drum Circle.

We had a great turn out, a chill ride, cool people and some free bikes that Bici Dignarios raffled off!

Thanks to everyone who came out and supported Bici Digna, Córazon del Pueblo, and the communities we serve.

Let’s do it again sometime, yeah?

This Saturday: Learn how to patch a bicycle tube!

Hey folks, this Saturday from 8am-12pm, Bici Digna will  be having a mobile workshop at the CARECEN Day Labor Center.  Thanks to a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services through the Los Angeles County Department of Health, Bici Digna is partnering up with CICLE to teach people how to patch a flat.

It sucks being stranded with your bike and a flat tire, especially when it’s something you can learn how to fix this Saturday!

So come on over, we’ll see you there!
